Even though we have learned much patience through our adventures in following God and waiting for His timing, I have to admit that we are both getting pretty excited to meet our little one...
I (Kate) know God has already planned when the baby will arrive, and I am trying to trust that timing will work out. I am only a little anxious because I have a friend flying in to help about a week after we are due to meet this little one. I am really hoping that the baby arrives a couple of days before my friend flies in, so that her trip is not lost with me being in the hospital because of a late delivery. I know everything will work out just fine, and that at the end of this waiting, the only thing that matters is that this baby arrives safely and healthy into this world, and the rest is just details. But still would be nice not to have to spend my time with my friend and our new baby in the hospital post-delivery (Amen).
Baby's movements this week have changed a bit, I'm feeling harder movements lower in my belly and not as many gentle rolls and wiggles. I'm told this is normal and part of baby moving into position to be born. I imagine a little line backer of sorts getting all squared off at the line getting ready to blitz (hey, I can hope that it doesn't take forever to birth this baby, can't I?). When I imagine even this, I don't imagine a boy or girl just because I am using a sporting analogy (and I'm sorry if it's not very good, I honestly am nowhere near a football expert), but it does make sense in my mind.
There's no "progress" to write home about, but I am supposedly softening and thinning (if you have ever been pregnant you know what I'm talking about, and if not, I will spare you the details). Baby has been head-down for weeks now, which is a relief, because I really want to avoid birth by c-section if possible.
This weekend, I hope to sleep a lot, eat a lot, do a little crafting, do a few last things to make the baby's room ready, and otherwise, just spend time with Louie and pray for this little one as we wait for baby to arrive :)

Pre-Baby Date Night
Figuring we only have 2 more weekends with just the two of us, we had us a little stay-cation this weekend. We read, we ate, we slept and we talked... we stayed in our pjs, crossed things off of the to-do list, bought a few things, Kate learned how to sanitize bottles and pump supplies with a friend, and we ate some more. It was fantastic.
Tonight at dinner, we talked about "the plan" for when labor starts depending on where I (Kate) am when it happens, so that we both know what to expect and do when that happens. The mom and baby hospital bags are packed, and just need to be double-checked, and the dad bag needs to be packed too. We both gave each other hair cuts in the last week too, so that's not something we have to worry about for a while. The kitchen is clean, the laundry is caught up, the garbage will be taken out tomorrow morning. All of these small things feel like huge accomplishments as we try to be as ready as we can be for baby's arrival at any time.
We are on the same page with the readiness-factor, both having the same few things left to-do to truly be fully ready for this little one: install car seat and get it inspected, pack Louie's hospital bag, double-check the mom/baby hospital bags and this-just-completed: pre-register at the hospital. Otherwise, I think we're as ready as we can be for something we've never done before: become parents.
